I drove my 1965 Corvette today for a short drive and noticed the trip odometer and odometer in the speedometer were not working. The speedometer works fine just the mileage part are not working. How difficult is it to remove and who repairs them.
It sounds like one of the internal worm gears has given way. It's usually due to resistance in one of the odometer wheels. Your choices are, you can live with it or pull the cluster and rebuild the speedo. The level of difficulty will be in line with your level of expertise and mechanical ability. Do a search on cluster removal and rebuilders, everyone seems to have their favorite speedo repair service. Hopefully, you’ll only need to use them once. Mine was Corvette Specialties of MD West.

Yes. The extra 'load' of the trip meter accelerates the odometer/trip meter failures in these cars. When I finally got around to fixing my odometer/trip meter I made a bracket to keep the trip meter reset button pushed in so it is disengaged and doesn't drag on the odometer....
