You quote the stock C2 manual steering spec of 3.5 turns. Hope that replacement 2.25 "Jeep" unit includes power!
I moved my tie rod ends from the manual steering to the power steering holes, yielding 2.9 turn manual. It's a bit of a bear to park with sticky/wide modern tires. Can't imagine what non-power effort would be required at 2.25 turns lock-to-lock!
I agree, moving the tie rods to the PS holes without having PS makes for really hard steering. The Jeep box is definitely power steering or I wouldn't have it, since my '67 runs sticky "max summer" 235/45/17 tires that would be unlivable without power steering. The Borgeson/Jeep box gets rid of the on-center dead spot of the stock Chevy PS, and everyone who has converted to it loves it.
Looking at your close-up of the alternator wires would cause me to worry about all the wiring under the hood. Give some consideration to a new engine compartment harness. Dennis
A friend of mine who sent his 63 corvette out and added this setup on his steering box
just curious if this is that jeep setup you guys were talking about .
This car was all stock NCRS with out stock power steering.
