Wanted to add the ignition shielding onto my '61 with NOM 327. Bracket on left side went on, no problem. Right side bracket interfers with vacuum advance canister on distributor. Do I have the wrong bracket or is there something else I'm missing here. Picked these brackets up used this past weekend at Carlisle.

A picture or two of the interference would be great. It sounds like the distributor may be installed clockwise a bit too far. In reference to the dwell window in the side of the distributor, where is #1 plug wire installed?

The brackets are fine - the distributor needs to be re-stabbed in the correct orientation; correct distributor/vacuum advance position and wire indexing is shown below.
As a general rule of thumb, the vac adv nipple should point at the top inner, rear valve cover bolt. If it doesn't point there, you are off a tooth or two.
If John's suggestion above doesn't work then here is how I stabbed mine on a '61 to deal with the problem.
Frankie,
Was it absolutely necessary for you to mount the distributor 180 degrees out from normal to solve your interference problems. I"m curious only because I've never seen that orientation done intentionally before. Just looking for an education here...not a fight

That was done to accommodate the addition of a vacuum advance distributor; in production, the 2x4 engines all used the small "891" NON-vacuum advance distributor.

Precisely !
Plus, at one point, my home brew PCV system was connected to the rear carb so the vacuum can could not be as shown in the first picture in this thread because hoses and the valve were in the way....
