I'm impressed that you removed the body relatively intact. Other than the steering column, wiring harness and brake pedal assembly, what other items were removed before lifting the body? I presume you plan to repaint the body.

I removed the interior, radiator and disconnected a couple things. The steering column remained in position I just unbolted it from frame, there wasn't much else to remove. I had 8 friends and a two post lift, made things easy. The body and chrome are presentable so I'm leaving it as is and just doing a frame/drivetrain resto. I'll drive it next summer and then have it painted the following winter. At least that's the plan...

Here's a pic of the car when I bought it. Missing some interior pieces and V-8 powered but really a nice mostly complete '54.

Are you putting a 6 cylinder back in it, or sticking with the V8?

I wish I had 8 friends to help me! If you are going to paint it with the body on, why did you remove the frame? Also, do you have a V8 in it now?

Chuck, I'm putting a 283 with a 097 cam and dual Carters and a 4spd. OLDSCHOOL hot rod, so to speak. It's going to be a fun car. I'm not going to butcher it, I'm keeping it in intact....

It had a non running 350 with a turbo 350 trans. Paint and chrome are really presentable, I wanted to put the time and effort where it was needed most. AAHAHA, I've got nothing but car guys living around here, they all love being involved in projects like this. Plenty of fun for everyone,,,,

Looking good. That's about where I'm at with my '57. Lifted the body off a couple of weeks ago, and had the frame sandblasted Thursday.

Are you painting or powder coating? I'm undecided...

I'm painting it. Epoxy primer and then a satin or semi-gloss top coat. It's going to be a driver.

I had the frame blasted today. Guy came to the house and blasted it in the driveway.

Dust free process, grit/water mixture and a chemical in the water to prevent flash rust. Pretty cool...
