Default anyone ever try this?

Has anyone ever tried to make a '56 Chevy speedo guts fit into a '53/'57? I have the outer parts but am unable to pay the big prices asked for original speedo its self. Since my car isn't stock I am thinking it looks like a guy could cut the passenger speedo guts to fit behind the stock Vette glass. Currently using a S-W round speedo in the tach location and a change.

I did actually compare directly to a 56 pass speedo and I think I'm going to buy one and try. Like I said, mines a much modified car and $30 vs $1000, it's worth a try!

I haven't, but when I seen $1000 for a speedo, I looked around on ebay to see if that was a real price... Maybe it is, But here is a used one for $195.00

There are some 53-57 ones on ebay but 450-700, restored one is $700.00
