The box or frame that attach's to battery to hold it down to tray and shield from engine heat…I replaced my battery on my 65 convertible today (that alone was a PITA)..I tried re-installing this frame and found it absolutely would no fit over my battery. The battery is the same height as the one that was in there before and same dimensions. Not sure why this seems so difficult. I wanted to make sure the battery was working so I left it off but I know it should be on the car. When installing it, I can get the side closest to the engine covered but the other side covers up the negative terminal (it won't sit flat on both sides).
Too bad you didn't test fit the shield before the battery went in.
Typical problem with today's Group 24's is they have carry handles. The extra plastic at each side for the handles prevents the shield from fitting.
Unfortunately, you'll have to remove the battery and cut the ends fress of the protrusions which are interfering. NAPA Group 24 batteries have handles but after you remove them most C1/C2 shields will fit without mod. Most Interstate Group 24's I've seen need cutting.
