I am looking at a 54 with the engine numbers of...... 05I5470 F54YG. I think the F54YG is correct for the year but I am confused about the first set of numbers. Any help would be appreciated.
The F54YG is the important number - that ID's the block as a Corvette vs Pass car
The beginning number is just a sequence number
What is the date code on the side of the block?
Passenger side - down from the stamp and to the rear.....

I don't have the date code but here are some more numbers. block 3835911 exhaust manifold 3836104 head 3838241. Also the convertible storage lid underside is painted black. Could this be a factory painted black car?? Car will need total restoration so any help on what it is worth would also be appreciated. thanks for any and all info. Robbie
There is a date code on the side of the block
It is behind the starter - on the passenger side.
The block is the right part number !
The head is the right part number !
It could be a real black car - look behind the seats, look under the dash and in the corners of the dash - underneath
Look under the carpet.
Look under mouldings - the factory did a split/tape off on the tops of the doors, under the windshield
