Default odometer correction...

I have changed the stock wheel/tire size on my '66 Corvette and now have more error in the speedo and odometer that I would like. I know I can change the plastic gear that drives the cable and get closer to an accurate reading, but I don't want "close" I want it on the money.
I have a Stewart-Warner adapter with changeable ratio gears which go on the tranny at the cable drive point, then the cable screws to the adapter. What I don't have is a source for the S-W ratio gears. Do any of you know a source for these gears? Thanks! Bill

The stock tire was roughly 27.1 inches around. What size tire do you have now. And how off are you

I have 215/70R15 mounted now. I know I can get close by changing the plastic driven gear, but I really want to use this S-W odometer adapter and get the odometer right on the nose. Once that is done I will pull the speedo and have it calibrated. Bill

You should be very close now with those tires. Are you sure you have the correct plastic gear in there now. And I don't see you fixation with using the S/W adapter

It is not close. The speedo reads 5 MPH slow now, and I agree, fixation is a good description of this. I want to use the S-W adapter because I have one and because I can adjust the odometer reading with greater accuracy. Once the odometer is registering 10 miles for 10 miles actually traveled I will pull the dash and have the speedo calibrated.
I know, I know, this is a lot of trouble to go too for accuracy my old eyes may not be able to see, but it gives we something to do and isn't that why we have these old Corvettes? Bill
