Default Proteam Purchase

This maybe the wrong venue (?? for sale section better?) but I'm thinking about buying a SWC from Proteam (silver blue 300HP, original AC car). What's the consensus on doing biz with them? Anyone know about this car? (Naber resto in '09). thanx steve

Treat them like your local used car lot in your town. Do your homework first. And if your fine paying them a little more. Then go get your self a car

Have bought & sold several times over the years with Terry, has always been a pleasant experience.

Beautiful car, and a real car. The Al Grenning cylinder case affirmation is a big plus. The documentation is there and the restoration was obviously extensive. I have done business with ProTeam and was treated fairly but you have to go over everything three times and do an on-site inspection and verify everything relook at frame and birdcage etc. If it all checks out they will be reasonable to deal with, I made an offer, they declined, two weeks later they accepted. This was about eight years ago. There was some fine print that I thought quite iffy, but probably is standard for buying 50+ year old cars.

Default Pro Team

I purchased my 59 from ProTeam 18 years. I got what I asked for and have no regrets. (original number matching frame and vin with period correct engine) My advice-ask for what you want in a car and stick with it. They're a used car dealer and should work with you. 59 navy

Doing business with them is like doing business with J.T. Piper's, very expensive.

Bought the '65 from them 18 years ago. Use all appropriate cautions....have the car inspected by a Corvette expert (if you are not), ask for documentation, ask about prior owner and call them if you can, etc. I did all these things and got a superb car...even got restoration photos and receipts. There are a TON of prior posts on doing business with ProTeam. Good and bad. Just be smart and dont take anything for granted. A group from our Corvette club stopped by there this past spring on a 1,500 mile tour of Car Museums and they were very nice to us....showed us around....great hospitality.

This is great info, and much appreciated. I'd really need to sell my '62 and the '66 BB to afford it and have room. Looks like a very nice car, but they have had it for a while....not easy to justify that kinda money for a toy. Is there an expert near there? I know some stuff, but am far from an expert. thanx again. steve

They certainly have been around for a long time. Check the car carefully so you know what you're getting. You can pay a little more now and be driving or you can try to find a similiar car from an individual for less money. That may only take a few years.

take a screwdriver with you to make sure the casting numbers and dates are not epoxy and iron filings or even made from RTV. a little poking around will tell a lot

Ya, I'm sure they are going to let you go at it with a screwdriver in hand.

A member of our NCRS chapter bought a 57 from them a few years back that had a fake VIN tag. Branding that car counterfeit when it was judged was a very difficult experience for all involved.

Get a small rubber hammer, and ask them if it's OK to tap on the numbers with that. If they won't let you do so, you know they are hiding something.....

Dealing with Pro Team has produced very mixed results over the years - some gems, some crap, and some frauds. I believe the owner TM allegedly served some jail time for fraud, IIRC?

They're just as happy to sell you fakes as gems - and they won't tell you which is which.

Be very, very careful....................

why would they object to a little poke on the engine block casting ??? better to find out there than in a car wash when the number blow off like one corvette I know of.

if you don't do your homework take your own K-Y jelly with you so you don't charge for that also.
