Next question..... powder coat or not? Don't scream please lol
I can powder coat for cheap, but is that bad for the value?
I guess to answer your question it depends on how you present the rest of the car, wheels were not powder coated when new.
IMO, clean them with glass beading then black primer and black enamel or body color on the front. White cars got black colored wheels and other colors got body color.
FWIW, I have two wheels that don't have dates and two with dates, these are not original to my car. I am not sure if early cars have dates or they just missed the date stamping process. I am looking for one to complete my set of five.
Good idea, I am getting the car painted in the spring so will do the wheels the same color.

You should say in 63 if you got white wall tires the wheels where black, if you got black wall tires they where body color. 64 all where black wheels.

Very good, thanks for your confirmation! My Shriner '64 only had three options, Powerglide, Posi and whitewalls. I turned 'em to whitewalls-IN within a week of getting the car in '66.
Blackwalls rule, I use BFG T/As for street driving, and I'm the only one who sees the raised white letters. When I'm under the car!
