Default New chassis

My new chassis has finally been received from Vette Products. I stopped and looked at it at the restoration shop, but only had a couple of minutes to do so. There are a number of splotches of paint on things that I assume represent markings done at the factory. Can someone tell me what those splotches represent?

I don't remember there being big splotches of paint on the chassis when it was new. I'm assuming the factory probably just put dabs of paint on, but some insight would be appreciated.

That looks nice. Some paint dabs were to identify parts on the assembly line. Others were to indicate fasteners had been torqued. I think some of the information on chassis paint markings has evolved so probably an NCRS guide would be the best reference.

I think it's still correct that the half shafts had a green dab on them (maybe to indicate shotpeened HS for a BB) and the drivehaft had a couple stripes on it (one green but forget the other without looking). Brake calipers had a dab of red paint on them I think to signify something. Most of what I did was based off a guide from the 80s and I just did for the heck of it since I wasn't trying for a concours restoration. Back then I don't remember anyone painting the front spindles orange but now that seems to be the accepted thing to do.

But that looks like a nice assembled frame - thanks for the pictures.
