Default C1 Numbers question,

I have a 62 I've owned for about 45 years, It was a former FI car and everything verify's that.

What has me stumped is the stamp pad # is no where close to the VIN#.

The block casting # is 3782870 & the stamp pad is 4106968 F1203RF.

My VIN ends in 8663

I find it hard to belive that way back then someone would go thru the trouble to put another RF block in if the original went to toast. Is there any way to tell if this was a warranty replacement?

I have no plans on selling the car, but would like to have some kind of history to leave for my family should something happen to me.

Thanks!

I believe that engine is from a 64 Vette casted in late 63.

!
I can't explain why that engine is in your '62. What I can tell you is that engine is out of a fuel injected '64 Corvette, specifically #6968.

Default Replacement FI engine

Back in the day it was no big deal to swap in another engine. My 62 FI #52XX has the engine from 62 FI #39XX.

That's for sure, blow them up at the drags on Sunday, swap motors during the week, they were just cars back then.

What's your location p7k3? I know of one situation that one owner had both and switched engines. If you're in AL,, maybe?

When I bought the '62 when it was 5 years old, it had a 283! Didn't matter to me..."plan A" was to drive it for a year, get it "outta my system", sell it for a 100 bucks less than I paid for it
However..."plan B" "kicked in"...

OK. If the engine is running right, just be aware of the difference in lash spec. and don't make a big change to the lash (set it to '62 spec. of 8-18) if you find the lash set at about 30-30!
