I've been using (not by choice) E10 for oh, maybe 20 years, and have not had any problems, no carb problems (other than heat soak perc), no electric fuel pump problems, no mech fuel pump problems.
I did change all my rubber fuel lines over to SAE J30 R9 fuel injection line.
Lubricant - preventing the moisture in the ethanol from decaying pot metal in carbs, FI, etc. We have had several speakers at our club events who suggest anywhere from 1 oz per gallon to 1/2 per gallon of unleaded. I use 1/2 oz per gallon every other time I fill up in both my fuelie and dual carbs.
Please post pictures of those ruined carbs as I have run ethanol-laced fuel in my 6 C1 WCFBs for the past 8 years and my 1 C2 WCFB for 2 years with no ruination. Also in my boat, jet ski, pressure washer and weed whacker... I'm willing to learn.
I thought you were serious because I have seen carbs totally ruined by ethanol. Maybe it is the California mix or maybe not.
What did you see in my pictures that suggested that my carb is ruined? By all accounts I am fair from a expert on carbs. But I see nothing, no discoloration, no junk in the carb, and ect. Inside the front bowl and main body that would suggest a problem.
Once, in 55 years of dealing with engines in lots of different machines, did I find a carb messed up. It was in a boat prior to the days of E10. Evidently I had gotten water into the system and, after setting over winter, the fuel bowl was full of crud.
After that, I would put a bunch of "Heat" into the fuel tank and run the engine for a while before parking for the winter. Heat, of course, is nothing but alcohol. Once E10 came along, I stopped doing that too.
