Seems to have sort of a matte or satin finish to it I am unfamiliar with.

Looks pretty darn perfect to me, if you know what I mean. Here's mine.

I'm thinking someone sand blasted or anther type of media the bird cage and hit the trim tag. Notice how there are no grind marks on the brace where the factory worker would have grind the paint away so the spot weld would hold for the vin tag. This car apparently was over restored. I would ask for pictures before restoration and see if the colors then match the tag. That is a very desirable color combo abd I would be very suspicious of the car. I would look and ask about hard to see areas for color overspray But seeing how it was over restored I'm sure all evidence is gone. Tread lightly

looks like it was sand blasted or glass-beaded.

That's what I thought also. Looks too good to be true NWM.

Based on what I see, I don't think it is original to the car. A hi-resolution pic that we can blow-up and better check is needed, but this morning it appears to be a reproduction.

You need to get a copy of the Roy Sinor/Al Grenning Trim Tag Book and study it so you can do these verifications yourself.

I have told the OP the same thing in PMs/email about this car before this thread started; and specifically the trim tag (and engine stamp pad). Don't think I've ever seen a '63 trim tag that isn't slightly bent over at the top where it is higher than the Z-bar and without ANY distortion at the rivets as in the example shown in post #3 and post #11 and here is my '63 tag as well. That's before we even get to the finish and the font.

It is a really clean, nice example of a split window but may be mis-represented as to originality and the asking price is at the 'top of the market' for a car in this configuration.

Need to be wary of "Corvette Fever" on these deals.

Guys, you can post pics. of all the tags in the world and it won't change a thing. I've seen this car in person, it's a reproduction tag. There are also several other incorrect things about it besides being way over-priced.

Beyond the obvious issues with the tag, the bar its attached to looks like its been very overprepared and resprayed as well. Not a typical umessed with surface.

I don't think anybody is disagreeing with this assessment Jim

OP must want opinions that are different from the ones he got before he posted here early this morning. More negative opinions are not useful to him. So, I will offer mine.
That is a beautiful trim tag, with perfect correctly shaped rivets. Mounted next to the correctly spot welded VIN plate. Everything looks legit to me (based upon the photo provided here).
It would be good to know the vin. Since this should be nearly a last day of production car given the 10K plus sequence no.

Here you go........
The bigger issue is that the VIN tag looks incorrect to me.
