Default 1963 SWC value?

1963 SWC

Original carb and engine are missing.
Most of the interior and dash parts are missing.
Frame, Doors, Windows and SWC Body are ok - body is flared.
Exterior trim pieces are missing - and a paint job would be required.
Likely a good Resto-Mod candidate.
So what is a 1963 SWC shell worth these days ?

Default That Depends...

How rusty is it? Here is one of the more reasonably priced project SWCs I've seen:

That car is a joke at that price. I feel sorry for the fool that bids at that price but my bet is nobody will.

I don't think that car had the original engine either.

To me, that seems completely out of control price-wise. Wow.

5 years ago I paid $24,500 for this car no drive train and a bad frame. Most of the moldings were included almost everything else was missing the pictures show everything that was included. Today I would gladly pay $50,000 for the same car.

I bought this car on e bay. Went to pick it up Wed. So here the story starts. Get there car is still in the trailer so I really can't look at it. Parts all over the place, meaning in SUV's different garages. He's telling me he is restoring it to NCRS. The only thing on this car that was NCRS was the frame stencil. Did not have any correct parts for the car. And looking at the car closely looked to be a new nose and 1/4s. NO KEYS>>,Engine dumped in the car, not hooked up. Inner fender wells hacked up. Parts missing Dash hanging in car, but he couldn't explain that either. And Much, Much more. So I asked if he were flexible on the price, says No has people lined up to pay more.. So I Passed.. Way, Way to much money for that car. You'll be buried in it.. So I guess it's still available.. By the way I drove a total of 1500 miles to get this car and passed. That is an old picture, car hasn't been out of the trailer in years..

Hey Mark - I will give you 50K for the red SWC shown in your pictures !!! .
(Wishful thinking).
That's a beautiful RestoMod.

According to the Hagerty price guide, a SWC in fair condition is valued at $37K so clearly there is SWC fever right now with the prices we are seeing

Gives me major league deja vu. I looked at so much roached out, raced out and parted out junk in my 2 year search for a split window that I gave up and then stumbled across the one I finally bought.

The cars were bad enough, but what was really amazing was the cojones of the sellers after you drove for hours and found out they were pushing a POS on you.

Like, if you don't want it the next guy will

If somebody has what I would consider a 'fair' SWC for $37K they need to post it here. I'll be interested along with many others

Another example of why I'm not among those who refers to Hargarty's guide as necessarily correct in all cases. When I compare numbers like that and comments about market corrections vs what it actually costs in real-life dollars to actually buy cars, I'm not sure who's the correct source to use.

I will say I admittedly overpaid for my car in 2013 expecting numbers to level off, and today I could sell it at a significant profit with one phone call even after calculating every dime that's gone into it since purchase. So, maybe there's great deals out there, but you might have to look for them.
