I am considering purchasing a set of after-market look-alike knockoffs for my '66 Roadster. Can't really justify the $10K+ cost of originals. In looking I see there are two types: the ones that have the original spin on wheels with the spinner and the ones that are the bolt-on look alikes. Ads say the bolt-on ones are hard to tell from the spin-on ones. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

I prefer the direct bolt KO's because I feel much safer with that type of installation. I know that some say correct tightening of spin on type is fool proof but I like bolts that I can torque just like steel wheels. I still remember driving in my 63 FI coupe with real KH KO's and feeling a wandering in the front end. It ended well but I came close to loosing a wheel. Direct bolts for me.

Welcome to the CF. If it was my issue, they would be the bolt on knock off's. They afford peace of mind and average maintenance. Enjoy the ride!

If it is a toss up for you whether bolt on, or KO, then bolt on without question. Some of us must have the real deal, or nothing. For the rest of us, the bolt on gets you the look you want. Go with that.

The bolt on's are the only way to go for me. The corvette America wheel bolt on uses the same 3 spinner knock off as the original type knock off wheels. Once together you can not tell the difference. The wheel in the picture is a corvette America knock off wheel. Picture shows 2 spinner but wheels come with the 3 spinner.

I took off my original KH knock offs and replaced them with the bolt on kind from Virginia Vettes. They were $2k and I love em.
