Default C1 Seats question.

Does anyone know how well later model C1 Seats (56' and up) would fit in an early model 53' - 55'? I know the later model C1 seats are much easier to obtain and significantly cheaper. I'm not worried about %100 originality but would like to keep the look as original as possible and figured this might be a better option than aftermarket seats. Thanks!

I haven't switched them like that but I think they would work fine, plus the passenger side seat would move. You might have to drill new holes to make them fit.

Thanks! I'll be working on the body so redrilling mounting holes won't be a big issue.

Well the later 56 up seats are much smaller and would look funny , 53-55 are much wider ,like TV lazy boy chairs , that's what my wife likes about my 55 .

Great info, my 54' is a good bit of a way from being on the road so a correct pair that's within my budget might turn up before then. Thanks for the info though, this was exactly what I was wondering.

The 57 Vett that I bought had later year seats and when I tried to recover them with new bun cushions they had to be cut down quite a bit. The covers also didn't quite fit correctly.

My very early 54 didn't have seats when I got it so I used a set of 62 seats. fit just fine.

Do you happen to have any pics of them installed? I was originally planning to go with a later C1 seat but now have been thinking about just saving up for a pair of original correct seats. I just picked up my 54' so it'll be a good bit of time before it's on the road. Thanks! -Russ
