Default Driving light socket replacement

I have done a search and maybe I am not looking/searching properly.....I have discovered on the 64 that the passenger front driving light socket will not accept a bulb for some reason. I cannot tell if the spring in the socket is just jammed up or what. I have tried other bulbs (even bought LED) and nothing works. How hard is it to replace the socket? Thanks in advance.

The socket requires replacing the light housing, which is not a huge deal...you unscrew it and thread the pigtail through one grommet in the body and it unplugs at the front of the hood. However, you may want to give a good shot of PB Blaster or Kroil or some other penetrating fluid way down in the socket to see if you can unstick the spring under the contact plate (disconnect battery). After the fluid soaks for a while take a popsicle stick and start pushing and releasing that plate and see if you start to get movement. If it breaks free then it'll prob accept a bulb, which you should install with di-electric silicone grease smeared around the base to prevent more corrosion.

Also, ensure you have the proper bulb as the bayonet studs on each side must be offset and engage at the proper depth in the socket.

I like the idea. I disconnect my battery after every drive so that won't be a problem. Thanks!
