Need help ordering from DeWitts
I just noticed that DeWitts is having it's yearly sale. I have been waiting all year for this, but it ends tonight and I am not prepared.
I thought it would be easy to pick the radiator I need, but I am confused by the choices.
I navigated to the 1965 Corvette DeWitts website, but there are several choices. I want a black radiator with the SPAL fan, but I also have AC and automatic transmission. Can someone tell me which stock number(s) to order???
My 1965 coupe currently has a radiator that was installed just before I bought it. Prior to getting the AC working, the temp gauge never got over 180 no matter what the outside temperature was. Once I got the AC working, I found the car would start to overheat whenever the outside temperature was in the 90's. However, I always turned off the AC before it actually would overheat. I installed a 16 inch fan and the highest the temperature gauge would go was three quarters, even with the AC on and the outside temp in the very high 90's. So, I don't really need the DeWitts, but the peace of mind being closer to the 180 mark would be great. Also, I have heard that the AC will run colder with a DeWitts Radiator. In Florida, that would be a big plus!

Ac and auto should not mater. As a manual and auto used the same raditor.

Since you are at the last day before deadline, I would make the best "guess" today and order it on the website to get the sale price. Then I would get on the phone with them first thing tomorrow morning. If you got it right, then all you did was verify it. If you ordered the wrong one, then you can get your order corrected before they ship it, but either way you should lock in the sale price.

1239063M $589.99 This is the same as the above Direct Fit Radiator, plus our exclusive Black Ice coat for that OE look. Sounds like what I would want.
Or do I want this one: 1139063A $559.99 The same unit above with an internal automatic transmission cooler
Do I need an internal automatic transmission cooler? There is already an external one or at least I am told the small little radiator lying below the big radiator is for the automatic transmission on my coupe. I have never had a problem with the automatic transmission.
Or one of these:
HP SERIES 2 ROW 1.25" TUBES
A great choice for cars with AC and/or modified motors! Please note these models are a special order and allow for 2-3 week delivery.
1149063M (Natural/man) $659.99
4149063M (Combo/Nat/Man) $939.99
4249063M (Combo/Black/Man) $999.99
Also, why is the "great choice for cars with AC" only configured for manual transmission cars? Is that what the "Man" means on these three choices?

Allan, does your current radiator have an internal automatic transmission cooler that is running in series with your external cooler? For those living in colder climates, it is a good idea to run an external cooler in this manner as the radiator cooler acts as a thermostat to insure that the transmission oil temp reaches a normal operating temperature. To run an external cooler without a thermostat of some type could prevent the trans oil temp from reaching a satisfactory operating temp under certain conditions.
Since you live in Florida, running without some type of trans oil thermostat should not prevent your oil from reaching a satisfactory temperature. Therefore, if your current radiator doesn't have an internal cooler, ordering a radiator without the internal cooler would mean the radiator has some additional capacity to control the water temperature.
Good luck... GUSTO

Factory SB auto cars had a external trans raditor that mounts in front of the engine coolant rad. Factory AC cars had no impact on the rad. They only had more seals around the fan shroud and a extra part of the shroud.

Never mind. I have en extremely low threshold for paperwork hassles and I am a very highly trained procrastinator.
Like said, it is not overheating. I will wait for the sale next year and try to jump on this earlier.

I bet if you were the first to call them when they open up in the AM and explain to them your dilemma they would give you the discount, plus they would help you out with the correct application for your car/needs...
Worth a try...

As I said, I am not overheating now, but I want that little extra cooling to back the temp needle to 180.
It will probably be a month to receive it (none in stock so they have to make it). That is OK since it is not likely to be too hot in Florida until March. Since I am a Master Procrastinator, it will likely be May before I install it. I will let everyone know how it works. I am expecting the best!

The 4249063M black for AC and Manual with a fan. He said the Manual was the right one for my car as that is how the original was made since there is the external Automatic transmission radiator in front and below the engine radiator. This is the black one to look like the original. It also has extra cooling power for AC systems.

The radiator from DeWitts arrived this week!!!
Now I just have to find time to make the swap. Since the car never gets hot when the outside temperature is less than 95 degrees, so I have several months to do the work.
