Default Holley Carburetor Date Code Correct?

My car was born on Tuesday June 14th 1966 according to the Shipping Data Report. My Holley carburetor horn is stamped with part number 3367 and the date code is 663. If I am reading this correctly, the carb would have been produced in 1966, the 6th month and the 3rd week. That would mean that the carburetor had to arrive at the assembly plant on Monday June 13th for assembly in the car the next day, June 14th. Does that seem possible? I plan on sending the carb out for rebuild and would like to make sure this will meet NCRS guidelines. Thanks in advance for your advice.

IMHO, No... Original correctly dated carbs will precede the car's build date. Yours is just too unlikely. You have a 1966, June, 3rd week carb - meaning June 15th thru June 21. And the day that air horn was stamped is not the same day as carb assembly was completed and the carb fitted to the engine. So your carb's date code post-dates your car's birthday, and would get a deduct. Some judges may say OK, hmm, maybe, is real close, whatever. But if in doubt... swap with somebody for one with an early June or sometime in May date. And as you know NCRS will allow up to 6 months prior. Good luck with your judging

I agree that it very likely is not your original carb.................but it is possible. Typically there are at least a few weeks of time between carb date and car build date.

If I were judging your car at an NCRS event, I would give you the benefit of the doubt, but not all judges will agree with me.

If the carb is a good one, keep it and be happy. At worst the (late) date could cost you 7 points in Originality.

FWIW.
