I may have just made a really large blunder. A couple weeks ago I damaged one of the KO wheel spinners taking it off. I took it to a metalworks in Phila to have it reapired and replated. For the record, they did an EXCELLENT job !!!!! However, I was concerned with having the threaded area chrome plated as I was worried about it galling when installed. I therefore asked that they do not replate the threaded area. I am now concerned about rust in the threaded area. I used a substantial amount of never sieze. I am concerend that the spinner will rust weld itself to the hub and wont be able to get it off later. What are your thoughts -- should I have it replated or will it be ok ??? By the way, I have already called myself a "dumb s_it" so that wont be necessary.
Re: KO Wheel Spinner - possible blunder (JL66REDCPE)
I don't think you'll have a problem as long as you use a film of anti-seize on the threads; eliminates galling and allows the spinner to develop more clamping force on the wheel.

John, Not sure that what you did will create a big problem for you, especially with the never-seize on it. We've done a lot of that on
the farm over the years. However, I would check it in a month or two to see if it's starting to rust. Would agree that you prob should
have had the whole spinner replated since the chrome is only a few thousands thick and when they stripped it before replating, it
would have all been removed. Isn't hindsight great? Good luck and let us know what you find out. Educational experiences we call
these. Jimbo 64

My love for the KO's is already documented elsewhere on the Forum. As I read your post a line from an old Beatles tune came to mind. It was released on Abby Road. The song title was "You Never Give Me Your Money"
As recorded originally:
"Oh that magic feeling no where to go, no where to go"
The 2002 version:
"Oh those magic wheels...no way to go, no way to go"
Just having a little fun John....I hope everything works out!
Thanks all for the comments. I will check for rust in about a month. Took it for a test ride today -- wheels seem fine no movement on the spinners so I put the pins in. Brakes were fine -- had plenty of pedal again.
Oman -- good lyrics -- I am way too old to be thin skinned - actually got a chuckle or two out of it. Remember - I called myself a dumb s__t in the first post.
Re: KO Wheel Spinner - possible blunder (JL66REDCPE)
It was really weird that song just jumped into my mind.as I read the post. I thought to myself "There goes more trouble from those magic KO wheels everybody is crazy about"! I even dug out Abby Road and spun it up in the CD player to find which song had the words.
How about the after the wheel separation verse of the rewritten song..."Oh those tragic wheels, away they go away they go"
Oman,
Women have complained that I'm not sensitive. But, I just get the feeling that you don't like KO's. Tell me that I'm right. Then, I can tell my girlfriend that I picked up on something.
Re: KO Wheel Spinner - possible blunder (stngry63)
Men are just insensitive animals, all women know that. Sensivity is what their girlfriends are "there" for. When they need a decision made and something DONE about the decision that is where we come in.
My wife an I have an agreement. When she wants something done, after years of hinting and hoping I am sensitive enough to pick up the clue, she now says "Da da da needs to be done IMMEDIATELY". I sense the coded message and react. As long as she does not abuse the code word too often we will be OK
As to the wheels CONGRATULATIONS you have have indeed sensed something and can proudly tell your sweetheart about your achievement.
