Anyone ever deal with a wiper resto company in Justice, IL?
I recently pulled my wiper motor to get it rebuilt and working before my cross country trip this coming July. I contacted a company that restores these motors and restores them to show condition for $189. The company is called Chicago Corvette and they are located in Justice, Illinois which is close to me. I am not as concerned about the showcar finish as I am about the unit being rebuilt properly and installing it with no issues down the road, no pun intended.
Has anyone on here used this company that I'm talking about? I emailed the owner and I can drop it off and pick it up to inspect it in person. From what I've read online, there is a hot wire and ground wire (my ground is missing) and then hook the switch cable and adjust the cable to switch it from park to low or high speed. I have already moved all the under dash wiring out of the way of the cables. Should I spray the wiper transmissions with any penetrating oil so the cables remain tight? With the motor off, I can freely turn the center wiper motor mount and the wipers mover freely with the hub.
I just don't want to get everything back together only to find out the first few times I use the wipers, they are all over the windshield and not in synch with the motor movement. Any information or suggestions on this project would be greatly appreciated. I recall reading about adjusting the transmission cables by removing the wiper arms and pushing down in the center of the wiper "hub" which somehow causes the spring loaded cable spools to loosen and retighten. Mine do not push down so hopefully they are tight enough now. Any post I found said to definitely remove both wiper arms before the motor is switched on or you can run the risk of scraping your wiper arms into the cowl paint if the motor was not properly parked when it was rebuilt and tested.
Thanks!!
Ted

I would recommend Steve Hackel instead of Chicago Corvette.

I'll give him a call, but I truly appreciate the input and heads up.

I have used Steve for both wiper and headlight motors and I will use him again. Fairly priced and very fast turn around. He actually does some of the restoration work for some of the big vendors.

I will also throw in a plug for Steve Hackel. Great service.

Just FYI:
I contacted Steve Hackel and had a nice conversation about what he can do and the turn around time. Unfortunately, he has recently had surgery on his hands that he could not put off anymore. He is not expected to be able to do much of anything until at least the middle of April and that all depends on how successful the rehab goes.
Just thought I would post and let others know in case they were expecting to get their wiper units rebuilt for spring car shows. I will be keeping touch with him and posting any updates as well.

From my perspective if Chicago Corvette has to hide behind the GrayGracy name to do business on Ebay something is wrong.
Also GrayGraey replaced a name they previously used.....
