Temperature Sender, Wells TU5 Worked for Me
Just wanted to make a quick post to let folks know that the "apparent" overheating problem caused by incorrectly calibrated temperature sending units that is or has been quite common to C2 owners was corrected in my case with a Wells TU5 sender, sold by Autozone for about $15.00. This replacement put my gauge right on the money.
I provided more of a write-up in post #34 of a previous thread
(https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...t-problem.html), but since this was quite an old thread from 2008 may have contributed more to confusion than clarification by reviving such an old thread.
The long and the short of it is that the Wells TU5 worked well for me, as it has for a few other forum members in the past. Sorry for the confusion!

I don't know, there's something funny going on. Had my gauges restored in 2012 and the sender worked fine. I changed to an aluminum manifold and then it read too high. I've tried several senders, mostly TU-5's, and they all read too high. Finally installed a 15 ohm resistor inline, but I don't like it. Afraid it won't give me enough notice of an overheating condition.
