60 Odometer and tachometer

60 Odometer and tachometer
Both the odometer and the tachometer go wild if I hook up the cables to them. (Cables are new) Is there an easy fix on these or do I need a pro?

Have you lubed the new cables? If not, the cables work best with a special graphite based lube available at most auto parts stores or car dealers. This may not be your only problem, but dry cables will make the instruments bounce.

Every repro tach and speedo cable I've ever bought came "dry", with no lube whatsoever; I pull the core out and lube it with "Kable-Ease" (Corvette Central sells it) before installing the cable, and they run smooth and sweet. Your local auto parts store should also have a graphite-based lubricant made specifically for speedo cables.
