A bit of an rookie here, have not owned a C2 yet...Is there any more info available on a VIN other than if it's a coupe or roadster and production number?
There does not seem to be a trim tag
It is an old 67 race car.

Nothing else on the vin other than what you said. The trim tag should be next to vin tag under the glove box. Personally I would stay clear of it unless you plan on leaving it a drag car. Hopefully it's cheap.

Yes the trim tag is not there.
It would remain a street/strip car.
So just the one C2 registry?
Hopefully chreap

...My main concern is that the same VIN is not on another car...
Dominic, have you been able to compare the VIN tag to the VIN on the frame? If these two VIN's match, that is a good sign the car is legitimate. If they don't match that doesn't mean it is not legitimate however, but would suggest you need to dig a little deeper.
It is not unusual to find that an "old" race car has been cobbled together from various bits and pieces. It's also not unusual to find a car that looks like and possesses a 1967 VIN is actually less of a 1967 than other years.
If you could post some pictures of the car, some of the folks here might recognize it and be able to provide some additional history on it. Also I believe that the Canadian government maintains a file on all cars imported into Canada. If the car was imported when new they may have info on it that helps allay your concerns.
Thanks Men!
The car has been "back-halved" so some of the original frame is gone.
There is no engine.
There car is on the U.S side at the moment.
So there is just the one C2 registry?
I googled the VIN and came up with nothing.
Back-halving a Corvette was a quite common practice back in the 60's and 70's when C2's started showing up in the Modified and Gas classes at the drag strip where the IRS just wouldn't cut it. More than a few ended up back on the streets in the 80's and 90's as well.
Pictures might also get it recognized by someone on this side of the border.
No trim tag means nothing, unless you want to show NCRS. As a Hot rod or street car who cares as long as the VIN and title are original and not missing. No legal reason you can not remove a trim tag.
