Default Vin number

I am looking at a 66 project-parts car, the VIN tag is gone along with motor and trans,is there anywhere else on the car to look for VIN?
Thanks

I believe the vin is stamped on the drivers side frame kickup near the rear wheel.
Unfortunately that area is very prone to rust, but who knows.
Give it a look.

You should also see one on the drivers side frame rail in the area under the seat. You cant see it with the body on. If it's a parts car you can cut a hole in the floor with a sawsall for a better look.

On the frame it's stamped in two locations on the upper horizontal surface of the driver's side frame rail, one is at the top of the kickup, directly above the upper shock mounting bracket, and the other is about even with the driver's seat 12" before where the pickup starts.

This is how I checked mine...A small inspection mirror...taped up over the frame rail. Used a Piece of Scotch Bright pad to clean up the top frame rail. Then a Rag with WD-040 to make it stand out.

The numbers will appear in reverse in the mirror. So you'll have to decipher the reversed numbers...

Yeah Works real Good Brother....Then all you do is take your camera and put it on "Macro" and get a nice close shot for your records.

Surprised nobody's mentioned the "other" location for the rear VIN. Here's the one on my late late '65. It's opposite the rear body mount on the drivers' side, not at the kick-up near the upper shock mount. Have seen nil feedback whether this was a change that started sometime in the '65 MY and continued in '66 (maybe beyond). 2nd pic shows where they are on my (ex) early '65 and the late one. Pink eraser is early; orange handle is late. Comments welcome.

Nope, it's "macro" - the little "flower" symbol on your camera for close-up shots.

Yeah..I pretty sure their is that one too...I think the other one is on the up slope of the kick up. but not as easy to get to as the top of the kick up.
