Trying to install hardware on new sun visors. Very hard to get screws aligned without damaging the leather. Clamp inside is open to accept the rod, which makes it difficult to get the screws to mate. Also, the holes punched in the leather where the screws come through the leather are not even close to the correct position. Could punch a new hole and hope that the screw/washer will cover this up. Looking for an tips or tricks to get this installed.
Thanks in advance for your replies.
First off, there should be 2 holes punched into the visor...with complete sets of the same 'screws/washers.pins' as you have shown in picture...those "Pins", insert into the end of visor and the hole in pins attaches to window frame...
Hate to tell you but those appear to be pretty poor reproduction visors.
You could take a rubber mallet and maybe beat the hardware channel a little more narrow to get the screws started...then take an awl and push it down the channel afterward to open the channel back up. Trust me - you want that hardware shaft pinched as tight as you can possibly get it.
Then you will want to make yourself one of the rare and much sought after "Midyear Corvette Sun Visor Tension Adjustment Tool" as shown, or, I will sell you the one pictured for $24.95 + shipping.

Wrap with a towel and use a pair of channel locks and squeeze the crap out of it if your worried about beating on it...and if you don't want to do/use either method, get some longer screws/nuts and use some flat washers and tighten them up to squeeze it tight onto the pin...
