Default Engine codes

Hi;
I just purchased a 3737739 block for my 58 vette and I know it is not a corvette engine, however it is a F919D suffix code.
This means that it is a passg car or light truck i believe.
My question is what will it take to make it a corvette engine??
New cam of course, 770 heads of course, what else would be an issue knowing that it will not be a NCRS car but a very nice driveable car for those summer days coming up.
Thanks for any/all help from you guys.

Key words "what will it take to make it a corvette engine??" and "knowing that it will not be a NCRS car but a very nice drivable car". If you want it to perform like an original corvette, build it with the parts for the corvette engine of your choice 327/300hp or 327/350hp or etc. The block has very little to do with the performance other than compression ratio. The cam, heads, intake, and carb are the breathing life of an engine and thus the performance keys. A 327/300hp is a very drivable engine with little maintenance. If you want to compete with the local 500+ hp mustangs, Camaros, and Challengers, get out your pocket book and spend a bundle or just go buy a new Mustangs, Camaro, or Challenger. You can go to a dealer and drive the new cars, but you need a really good friend to drive the 327/375hp C2 Corvette that he has built and babied so you can make the comparison.
Good Luck

Thanks R66;
I forgot to tell you that I have the org 2X4 intake with the proper carbs and would really like to stay with that combo.
I just love the look of old school setups like that.
Thanks.

Would the F919D mean Flint Sept 19 then? What year??
My car serial # is J58S100500. This would be a Nov 01 /57 build date correct?
Thanks.

Sound like a COOL Old School setup. Takes some time to tune two carbs, but I agree with your selection as I am OLD.
Go to the FAQ forum https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...aq-thread.html to find help on the date code at the back of the block passenger side. Great site for info. Also the Nasty Z28 site is a good source.
Of course, all of the "OLD FARTS" on this forum are always ready to help and love to share their memories with you.
Post some pictures when you can, love you see your setup.

The casting date on the back of the block will tell you what year it is.
