Default Question regarding interior.....

Recently, in viewing photos of C2s for sale, I came across 2 cars with an interior feature I'd not seen in pouring over thousands of interior photos. I've included a photo with the "item" highlighted for identification from one of the cars. I assume it's a feature related to the heating vents, likely for directing/redirecting the heat. Anyway...thanks for the clarification!

Hopefully you can identify the feature in the oval for me. Thanks.

The picture shows a '67 W/O A/C. The small pull handle on each side opens and closes the basic kick panel fresh air vents. A/C cars have the same thing. There is no ability to change the air direction of these. As you may know, A/C cars have three outlets. One in the center above the clock and one on each far side of the dash. The end outlets can be swiveled. Dennis
