Default Third Arm Bearing Question

I need to replace the bearing on the third arm on the '62. Is the bearing a pressed fit on to the stud, or merely a slip fit? How tight a fit should the bearing be going into the third arm?

It's been impossible to get the old bearing out even with a puller, bearing seperator. I'm going to a friends tomorrow to have it cut out.

Been such a long time since I did mine... It is pressed in. I think I had to use a pickle fork to remove it.

No need to go medieval on this. When you have it separated from the steering arm, REMOVE the lock ring, then get a heavy flat washer and put the big nut back on the stud (protect the face of the nut). If you place a pickle fork in there and tap upwards on the ends it should come right out. A little penetrating oil around the rim will help. Pilot Dan

For install, Clean the cavity and tap the new bearing in with a big socket, it is a light press fit.

Thanks - lock ring was removed and at first tried as you suggested - nothing. Tried a slide hammer - nothing. Rigged a puller to pull straight up - nothing. Cutting the bearing will be the only solution

Thats how I removed it. I think I placed the bearing in the freezer and reinstalled it fairly easily without taping it. Then again it was a long time ago.
