The big question. Is it a real 427 from the factory? The seller does not say anything about the engine except it's a "numbers correct" 427. The pics and video provide zero info. I can see the heater core is blocked off. Next question. Could you get a CR muncie behind a lesser horsepower and size engine. Dennis

Looks like the steering wheel is walnut and not teak. Also, where is the rear sway bar and assembly? That should be standard on all big blocks. I wonder what the asking price is for the car. Jerry

That is odd that someone would leave off the rear BB sway bar, unless this car didn't come with it originally...meaning it wasn't a bigblock to being with. He's up front about it being a different 427 but if that tach is to be believed, it should have been a 435 horse 427 but no mention of the tripower or what happened to it.

Based on what I see and read, I would say the car was originally a small block car that has MANY non-original components installed during the "restoration" and is now made into a big block car of some sort. A whole lot of mixed "claimed to be numbers matching" parts.

To the OP: Exactly what kind of car and pedigree are you looking for?? NCRS/Bloomington, driver, street-rod?? Or are you just trying to learn about all the issues it has to improve your mid-year knowledge? This one could take awhile.

Yes. My '67 originally came with the L79 327/350 and the CR Muncie.

If you look closely you can see the right side small block hood bracket still in place.

Jerry... the '67s did not have a teak steering wheel, but the seller doesn't know that!

looking to learn although i'd buy the right car if it came along although i no longer have the time to spend studying for a doctorate level course in mid years.

i'd buy something off the forum light years before fleabay. i just still cannot believe the level of shenanigans that goes on with these cars.

In today's world, for C2 cars, you either need to know the car and seller or you need to educate yourself about these cars and bring along a consultant (paid $$$ or knowledgeable C2 car guy or judge).

FWIW. There are not any short-cuts if you want to buy a quality car. Way to many sellers out there that are not honest or ethical anymore.
