Default Help with Date Codes

Can someone help me out with these date codes. I think I have it right but I want to be sure. I have ordered the books needed but I'm at a stand still on parts so I'm trying to get something done.

The engine date code I believe is H142. There is a symbol before the H. Picture included. So is this August of 1962?

The cylinder heads I have are wrong, but in order to get the right ones I am trying to decode them as well. They are marked L18 61.

The "symbol" you mentioned is probably a screw head. The block date tag was secured with a screw on each end to attach it to the casting core. I believe the actual type of screw(s) used determined the production shift as well.

H142 is August 14, 1962. To be absolutely certain of the date, you should also know/post the block casting number located on the upper rear driver side of the block.

Sorry I should have included that. 3782870 is the block casting number. I believe this is correct. I am trying to locate heads that would be at least close to correct but no luck so far.

Put a WTB ad in the C2 Forum "Parts for Sale or Wanted". Also, there are two surplus engine companies in Wisconsin that should have want you seek. They advertise in Hemmings.
