There was NO VIN number on the paper and the friend (original owner) had no other info to know what the VIN number is.
What got my attention is on the sheet all the identifiers are there (minus the VIN). The otpions, the engine option. Crap the car has power steering and windows but not brakes.......
I seen that partial vin on the paperwork as thats all the dealer could have known at the time...just thought the person that showed this really cool part of 'history' might have not divulged it all to you....
What it did notice was the trade in value of a the 'Corvair'...
Obviously, at the time you place an order for a car in 1967, the dealer would have no way of knowing the VIN number. That would be assigned at the factory a month or so later when the car is built, since it says delivery will be in 6 to 8 weeks. Nice paperwork, probably not too many cars ordered with that option list, but finding it without the VIN will be difficult.
Even though the VIN isnt apparent, I think this would be a great item to put up in the ORPHAN document and stamped parts thread at the top of the main page, in the Sticky section:
