Default Split window moldings

I just received a new Paragon catalog in the mail and just flipping through it noticed they now offer '63 rear moldings (pg. 98). $2600 for all the pieces except the large 90 degree piece. Last I checked, they had a few of those NOS for about $350 each. I think the long straights were the hardest to find, so hopefully this will complete some sets.

Easier to make split windows cars from 64-67 donors now.

Cheaper to modify the window openings and flush the windows out with rubber moldings. Smoother look also.

This should be good. Now the SWC-haters will cry doom and gloom about crashing prices because clones/fakes will proliferate.

Let the games begin!

I don't know how it's done, but I like the look in the one car of the forum that did it

Frankie. I didn't know there were 63 coupe haters. I enjoyed mine until I sold it.

I think it would be WAAAY too expensive to "clone" a 63. Of course there are more 435 67's now than there were produced in 67 so I could be wrong.

Any competent fiberglass tech can alter the openings to raise the window position and recreate the lip the rubber molding fits into to support the glass. Just time and material.

Seen it done on "big window" coupes also. There was one at Carlisle about ten years ago. Looked great. No poor fitting stainless pieces sticking out to grab your polishing towel.

If they will make the upper and lower front windshield moldings I would put them on my race car.

The Paragon web site interactive C2 catalog does indeed list part numbers for the split window stainless rear window molding....as to price ? For each piece it only says "Call" to the right of the part number.

I'm betting these pieces are made out of vapor...

funny where the discussion leads to sometimes.
I'm just trying to help those with incomplete sets. Paragon says 1-2 weeks or 2-3 depending on parts needed. No more NOS long right angle pieces left.

My 63 is a race car but in 1966 when it started racing the trim was on it so I would like to go back to it someday. I have the 2 long right angled pieces and the short straight pieces are what I will need. So thanks for the heads up Ken!

Like I said earlier if I could find the front windshield pieces I would install them today as I have the A-pillar pieces and this would make the front of the car look much better immediately. There are us who have real cars that this is a good proposition for and is greatly appreciated. Garrett with his ZO6 63 was in the same position and may still be?

I think we get that and its appreciated....it has been posed that maybe the catalog is referring to used pieces that might be in stock versus reproduced pieces. I don't know of anybody reproducing this stuff yet.
Dan Shore of Fantomworks claims to be within a few months of doing so, but that was several 'few months back' periods.

Someone was selling complete front and rear reproduction moldings for 63 coupes made from carbon fiber, you then needed to have them chromed.

just a WAG, but many plastic parts (grilles come to mind) nowadays have a chrome-like finish so I don't know why carbon fiber couldn't be 'chromed'...

I saw a 63 with the repro corners the color of the stainless was not close, the cheep SS that they use is what we call Taiwan gold, all the repro SS has the same gold tint. Find original it looks and fits the best.

The new Paragon catalog does indeed list new, not used, 63 rear window stainless. I'm guessing that they haven't gotten their website updated yet.

The corners have been available for some time now, but the side and rear pieces are new. The only piece listed as "Used" and "Call" in the catalog, is the large curved forward piece.

The catalog shows the straight lower side moldings, and the two rear moldings, with a list price of $500 each, while the corners are $600 for a set of four. Two sets of corners are required, making the total price of the available pieces, $3200 (not $2600 as was originally posted).

To the best of my knowledge, these parts are not being made by Paragon. Keen Parts might actually be the company making them. I know Tom (Keen) was working on them. He showed me a sample of the lower side piece over a year ago. I was talking to him about them earlier this year, and he said he'd had a problem with the tooling, but still expected to have some 63 rear window pieces out this year.

I'm sure I'll know more in two weeks, when I see Tom at Carlisle.

Did Keen actually finish the tooling and get a complete set out for sale?
