What went in place of the choke pull on the '55 V-8 dash?

Then what goes in between the heater and radio controls. Isn't that where the choke is in 53 and 54? Seems like every photo I look at shows a different control placement. Thanks.

Wiper control
on 54's (late) the choke is on the drivers side of the steering wheel
on 53's the choke is on the drivers side - just above the key - the driver had to put his hand thru the steering wheel to operate the choke and the right hand to operate the key.....

Top pic is my '54 dash. Two control openings left of steering column. Below pic, late '54 thru '55 ( I've been told), only the headlight switch is left of steering column and an additional control **** is to the right of the radio. I've been told all thru production there were a number of changes to the dash. I assume this is factual....

Thanks Roy, that's what I thought, it looks out of place...
