Default windshield for 62

My present windshield is 12 years old and getting quite pitted. I can get a non dated in clear or tinted for $199. The tint is allover green and the guy says that tint was available in 62. Can someone confirm if tint was available in 62? Does anyone have tinted glass in a C-1 and if so, how do you like it?

All 62 glass came from the factory clear. No tinting. The green tinted glass looks bad against the clear side glass. Change all of it if you are going with the tinted windshield. By the way, "the guy" is wrong.

and, DO NOT let a windshield replacement company do the work without checking their references as to having done C1 replacements and then speak to the people referenced.

many have taken the shortcut of breaking the post tabs in order to not have to take the windshield off to replace the glass....

You probably already know this, but you have to completely remove the windshield frame and disassemble it to replace the glass, then put the whole puzzle back together.
Also check the thickness of the replacement glass, many new ones are much thinner and cause issues with gasket fit.

Thanks for the comments, so far.
I will buy the glass from Auto City Classics in Isanti, MN. I will check the thickness, but I did buy the last windshield from them and it was OK.
I would plan to do the installation myself. I did my last one and it was a real S.O.B. and I swore I would never do it again, but 10 or 12 years have passed and I've kind of forgotten how bad it was.
What makes this triple bad is, as long as I have the windshield out, I should replace the dash pad as it has shrunk away from the windshield. Oh, and as long as the dash is apart, this is a good time to replace the wiring. There go my winter.

The dash pad is a no-brainer while you have the windshield out; along with any chrome/stainless work on the windshield frame; likewise if your windshield pillars have broken tabs there is no better time to deal with it.

IMO - the rewire could be put off as its not directly dependent on having the windshield out.

I had the cluster out the last time I replaced the dash pad. Can you replace the pad with the cluster in the car?

I just did complete this after a complete restore 11 years ago. Dash Pad, Tach repair, door adjust, fixed all the little things that have been irritating to me. No easy job at 71 years old. Drove it yesterday and all the headaches are forgotten. What a joy to drive a 56 year old car when everything works and it drives like it should!
And thanks to all of you that have helped me over the last couple months.
Larry

The Cluster must be removed to replace the dash pad, but,
the cluster can be removed without removing the steering wheel.
It makes it harder to get to everything under the dash, but,
if your turn signals restore and horn works,
I wouldn't mess with it.
Replacement wire harness should be first on your list
regardless of what else you do.
Label all wires as you remove them. It is easy to find what color wire goes to what,
if you have correct harness's.
If you don't have three hands, get glasses or a headset with a light.
You must possess patience and dexterity.
If you don't use fowl language as an escape, it's going to be tough!
