bill ir seems that we think alike, everything Is Possible until Proven otherwise, then It is Suspect! Photos of the 383 Chrysler success? Craig (obie1948)
none that I can find, film pictures were expensive back in the mid 60's (for me anyways...)
seeing as how Chrysler B blocks have the distributor in the front; I modified a Chrysler 300 tach drive distributor shaft so that the FI fuel pump drive cable would turn in the right direction, then made a 6ft long drive cable that wrapped 180* around the top of the engine so that it could drive the pump.
I made an adapter manifold from square tubing and steel plate and had it surfaced flat for the doghouse to sit on. accelerator linkage was a cable on mopars so that wasn't a problem.
the FI gave then engine back low end the Stage III cam took away and I was able to change out the 4.88 back to the original 3.23 RER that came in the car.
as the FI was for a 283, it ran out of 'air' flow at about 6K, so that was it's Achilles heel; but it was awesome cool... I wish I did have pictures, I reckon people have a hard time believing it can be done. BUT, if there is a will, there is a way..

Bill, it is obvious that we Do Think Alike! I have been involved in Many Special Projects in my lifetime, I too wish I had taken Photos of these as well, I now take photos of Everything!

Bill, did you give any consideration to mounting the FI unit backwards so the pump would be closer to and pointed generally towards the distributor?

hindsight being what it is, I have often thought of that. I guess my first thought was to accelerator linkage but now I realize I might have been able to get a longer accelerator linkage cable; BUT, remember, this was the mid 60s and a lot of the stuff we take for granted wasn't readily available. this was a shoestring endeavor....
second thought is as to whether the installation of the distributor could have been rotated 180* so that the modified drive end would be pointing towards the injection pump if the unit was mounted backwards. as I remember, mopar distributors used a blade type distributor drive; but I don't know whether they could be rotated 180* and put in backwards. it would have made things a lot simpler; but, surprisingly I never had a problem with a 6ft long drive cable...
the FI unit wasn't mine (and I have no idea what version it was), it belonged to a friend with a 58 corvette and it had to go back to him. over 50 years have transpired since then.... ain't hindsight and 'what ifs' great; there may have been other reasons I did what I did, just don't remember
given the parts and opportunity, i'd do it again from an older and wiser perspective. even my current modified EFI project was on a 'wing and a prayer'....

I sure wish you had made pictures! I have a collection of pictures of FI oddities and your Mopar FI would have a front and center place of honor!
