Default holley carb question

i have a 3310-3. after i took off the shooter, i looked down the threaded shaft and i did NOT see a steel ball. isn't there suposed to be one?? is it a big deal if there isn't [like, will i run chronically rich; will there be irregular filling of the pump chamber etc?] any advice will be appreciated.

Sometimes you can get away without one, but you should have one in there. And I think it is a small cylinder with a point on one end instead of the ball.

You are correct about its function, it is there for anti-siphon purposes.
There is a possibility that this could happen.

thanks for the info. i will look for this and follow up. this kind of question and answer type of thing is what i love about this board. by the way, do you think the standard rebuild kit has the cylinder you mentioned??
clem said i can get one from him, but i do have a kit at home. the problem is i don't really know what this thing is supposed to look like, although it sound like it is shaped like the fuel bowl needle.
what about the kit??

werner.... got your IM.... how ya doin' old friend?

According to the Holley data, the 3310A and 3310-1AAA are model 4150's, and the 3310-2AAA is a model 4160. They don't have data on the 3310-3 in my old books.

Mark is correct... the part is not a check ball...it is a small cylinder with a point... called a "Pump Discharge Needle Valve", pictorial view number 82, part number 23R-258.
It does indeed look like a fuel inlet needle valve.

So there ya have it.

Most kits I have seen have this "check valve" in with the re-build kit.
If they do not, I have some extras and will send you one if you have trouble locating one.

If you buy the re-built kit, get the "Trick-Kit" for your application. It has an assortment of things that are money savers and can help in tuning.

I just scraped a 3310 model out for parts. I had just the body and broken base plate left. I threw the body in the garbage not thinking anything of it. The body was fine. And it was a corvette holley

I should have posted it, maybe it was someones numbers carb body they needed.
