how do you turn the dist if you want to time it, the oil line will not let you turn it. disconnect it, i dont think so. so what is the secret,

Dont know how the oil line is in the way but you need to loosen the wire clamp that holds the distributor down w. a 9/16 wrench. Turn the distributor ccw to advance and cw to retard the timing. Im assuming this is a non fuelie engine.

I am going to assume you have a fuelie by your picture and the mention of an oil line.
The distributor does not turn, there is a pin that prevents this.
Timing is set by loosening the clamp around the upper part of the distributor and rotating the upper housing only.

The red arrow points to the screw you must loosen and the yellow arrow points to the slot in the lower distributor housing that the pin from the adapter goes into that prevents it from rotating.

yes it is a fuelie, thanks so much for the education, so the wire clamp needs not to be loosened, right again thanks
