I recently came across a 63 split window for sale. I had some? About what it might be worth. The car is a project, original engine gone, has a shark style front clip, but has a replacement front clip from a donor car. Birdcage has a little scale but appears to have no holes , frame has soft area at the kickup on both sides . I think the car was the 340hp version. The rest of the body looks good no damage has orig 4sp and rear axle . A 68 rebuilt 427 also comes with, not sure of hp on it . The car has been sitting in a garage for about 30yrs. I know the spilt window cars are desirable now , the big issue I have with the car is the trim tag.:the car has a 1964 trim tag on it . The vin tag is a 63 , the owner has no idea what happened, he has had the car since the early 70s .I know you can get a replacement tag, but how much would this hurt the value if car were restored? The owner will go no lower than 20 for it .
If you really want a 63 and willing to do the work yourself 20k is an OK deal. As long as the Vin is the correct one I would just leave the trim tag as it is and drive it. Its only going to give you a problem when you go to sell it. I think you will be upside down in it by the time you are done with frame issues and unknowns.

Bow tie guy is right make sure the vin is not tampered with & matches the frame . I saw one that had 1 # from another vin glued on top of original was hard to spot i almost bought that car

Sounds like a Frankenvette. IF, repeat IF, a lot of the one-year-only
parts are there, it may be worth $20K all day long to piece out....
I think you would be underwater so fast if you tried to 'bring it back' your head would swim and then when its all done have a questionable provenance...
I see big time problems If you found a little rust you really have a lot of rust. Rust is like an iceberg.
The second problem is you picked a tough car to rebuild. There are a lot of one-year parts.
Just give up on the idea of restoring this car. A restoration might easily be $150,000. Probably more.
You could have a driver though. A hot-rod. You're going to be way upside down on this car but you'll have a lot of fun. The dues at my golf club are $10,000 a year. Spending $10,000 a year on a Corvette is a lot more fun than golf.
