What is Best Corvette Movie/TV Show??
I remember the Jan/Dean TV Movie had a lot of old vettes. I particularly remember one scene where they were speeding in a midyear and they kept showing the speedometer needle rising and rising. Too bad the speedometer shown was from a C1!!!!. I don't remember Route 66 on TV.

StingRay
Staring Christopher Mitchem Filmed in the late 70's in Canada Stars a C-2 vert ,but I can't remember what year YUP it was Red. As for being good well the most expensive thing the producers paid for I think was the car and that could have been rented   The movie that hurt the most was "Conair" I hope that was a model. :cry :cry
:seeya
I have a few hours of "Route 66" on VHS, that is still one of the best to me.

Gee, not that it's my favorite, but what about Corvette Summer with "Luke Skywalker"?

Hot Rods to Hell is from the mid 60s. A bunch of kids harass a man and his family traveling cross country. The main characters use a souped up solid axle '58 Vette. It stars Dana Andrews - not some of his best work - definitely a "B" grade movie.
Someone has actually created a web site with clips and other stuff about this movie at:

"King of the Mountain" was pretty cool....
Dennis Hopper and his stopwatch were classic. The race between The porsche and the Corvette is the best part, but you may not want to watch

Re: What is Best Corvette Movie/TV Show?? (GT's58)
The TV series 'Stingray' was filmed at least partially in BC and the car was offered for sale in an Auto Trader ad some years ago. Perry Mason's private eye 'Paul drake' drove a 63 convertible during that year of the TV series (Ford supplied cars during the earlier years and 'Drake' drive a Thunderbird, while 'Perry Mason' (Raymond Burr) drove a Lincoln). There was an episode of the orginal 'Mission: Impossible' series in which Roddy McDowell (playing the 'bad guy') drove an orange 70-72 convertible, seen in several scenes of the program, which was available on a VHS cassette. In the movie 'Body Heat', William Hurt drives a not-too-well-kept red, mid year convertible.

The best mid-year movie (IMO) is "White Sands", 66 Nassau Blue 427 Vert, w/KO's. Car is "showcased" in numerous scenes.
It was actually not a bad plot/story either

You must be crying because the '58 gets wrecked at the end.[/QUOTE]
......... as does Cal's 67 BB coupe in "King of the Mountain"

One of the wildest with a C1 is in a movie called "Less then Zero." Jami Gertz is fooling around with her boyfriend in a C1 then the car slides to a stop in the middle of the road as a pack of Harleys ride around them. Its a typical sex drugs rock and roll spoiled rich teens movie but has a few great scenes.

Re: What is Best Corvette Movie/TV Show?? (joe58)
oh........ and remember Meg Ryan's late night C1 drive in "The Presidio" ? (my kind of girl!)
...and Steven Segal in "Hard to Kill"? where he just about tears the rear bumper off a red C4 Vert? (I had heard that was an accident, and they just used the footage)

After the first time watching that movie in the early sixties, I built an AMT model that is identical to that 58 including the front end up in the air and no front bumpers. What's sick is that I still have it.

Here is a rare trivia question....name a mid 70's crime/drama show in which Bill Bixby, the star, drove a white '74 Corvette Convert?? God I loved that car........it was only on for one year I think.......it was called "The Magician." Anybody else remember this "pre-incredible hulk" show?

Not to say you are wrong, but...
I watched the movie Stingray with Christopher Mitchum being filmed in my hometown of Edwardsville, IL in the summer of 1978...(if you listen really close, you can hear my cousin laugh during one of the bar scenes)... you're right about the budget, the car had to be the biggest expense in the entire movie... the movie poster does look pretty cool in the garage next to the '63 :D

Another film with a vette was "Poison Ivy" (red 66 427 vert)
