I have KH knockoffs on my '65 and have had the wheels off many times. I use my original mangled lead hammer to beat them on as tight as I can and then go for very short rides and use the brakes. Then I beat them again, until they don't move anymore. I also use the lead hammer every second or third time I drive the car, just to check. I bought another original lead hammer at Carlisle a few years ago that stays in perfect condition for NCRS judging. The mangled hammer is comical looking. The lead hammer does absolutely zero damage to the spinners.
