Throttle return spring

My '60 Vette has the standard engine 230hp. The correct throttle return spring is supposed to be green. Unfortunately, the thermostat housing (goose neck) is in the way of what appears to be the correct attachment point for the correct green return spring. Any suggestions?

Is that correct ?

My '61 AIM shows the bracket for the spring mounted forward of the carb...for the base motor...

I don't know. The early 60's were so different from the later ones that I guess I'd look at 59 AIM to find out. Mine's 202 VIN

The green return spring attaches to a bracket that is mounted on the top of the thermostat housing (slightly different than your second photo), see Corvette Central item 35110.
