Here’s Why This ‘62 Corvette Is Well Worth $200,000
Of all the automobiles we’ve seen go for big bucks at a Barrett-Jackson auction, there’s certainly no question about whether the $200,000 for this Corvette was money well spent.

Looks like a "KIT" car!! Would not pay $25,000 for it!

Note to Editor, its not a 1962 Corvette, it's a 2004 C5 modified to resemble a 1962.
Still very cool that the money went to charity, very cool.

Not really a kit car per se, it is a conversion done by a West Coast company that takes a C-5 and replaces it with pieces they produce to make it look like a '62. The workmanship is very good and the cost is approx. $75k plus you have to supply them with the C-5

Noble cause, but as a car, I wouldn't own it. I don't like the looks, and overall it doesn't appeal to me. But then, I don't care for the fiberglass Excaliber Mercedes 500k replicas, either. Or Cobra kit cars. Or even Bricklins!

The guy who donated it is happy, the guy who bought it is happy and the wounded veterans involved in this program are grateful. And then theres you guys.

I think the trigger here is the arrogance of the caption, that states that this car is well worth 200k. That's subjective, and can rub real car guys the wrong way. The cause is well worth 200k, the car, not so much.
