Default DeWitt radiator won't fit

The build date for my 59 was December 1958 and my 283 is dated February 1959. I bought the correct and recommended radiator but it doesn't fit. The PS bottom water discharge (short) pipe hits the radiator "saddle" and prevents the radiator from resting all of the way down. I can't close the hood. Anyone have this problem. By the way, this is a radiator worth waiting for...very well built. Thanks 59 navy

Tom DeWitt is one of the most responsive vendors on the forum; sooooo....I'd call him and get the explanation straight from the horse's mouth (so to speak)..

The new radiator should drop right down to align with the holes in the radiator support. Are you saying the mounting holes align and you are having a clearance issue with the core support?
Are you working with the original radiator support? Did the old radiator fit OK previously?

I installed a Dewitts in my 59 several years ago BUT had a heck of a time with the reproduction radiator support (NOT a Dewitts item and NOT a fault of the radiator) and I had to rework the support including breaking and re welding the X brace as it was not square and poorly assembled in the first place. Once corrected, the radiator fit and has functioned perfectly ever since. It's one of the single best upgrades you can make on the early cars. Some pictures would help clarify the problem. Pilot Dan

Update

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...fits-fine.html

A lesson to all here would be to "keep names out of titles". Why?
Because you cannot edit them or ever take them back and Google uses thread titles for searches. So ten years from now someone searching out the name DEWITT will likely find this thread and the title alone is enough to make people run for cover.
