What does this work out to is "J285"on an L79

Not sure if "I" was used on block date codes. Whatever "J" works out to be, it would be the 28th day of the month of 1965

"I" was used for September on block date codes.

Remember it this way: The word "stamp" has an "M" in it. "CAST" has no "M".
