Added Sound Insulation
I have a 65 coupe that I just finished. During the build, I used the Vette Nuts premium insulation under the carpet. That is a foil layer and a black rubber like layer. Now that I am driving the car, I would like to reduce the inside noise level a bit more. The noise that I am after sounds like drive line noise, as in transmission noise. In the three years that I had the car apart, I guess that I forgot what it sounded like going down the road. My question is, has anyone tried adding a layer of the sound insulation along the inside to the under side tunnel? I have the foil and foam stuff that goes around the transmission. I am thinking about adding something aft of that, possibly including something around the rear end.

I'll bet you'll find most of that noise coming out of the jack storage wells. Drive a bit with your jack compartment cover off and you'll see. You could insulate that. Frankly, I drive an original '63 and it doesn't bother me...to each his own.

Thanks, the kit that I used had parts for the well and I did not use them. I was trying to keep that area original looking. I will try adding them and see if it works. The noise level is not all that bad, it just seems a bit louder than before.
