I recently sent and paid 45.00 to NCRS for a them to obtain the original dealer info using my VIN. Today I received a letter from them stating that info was NOT available.
Anyone get this result ?
I've been able to track down the previous owners of my car but not the original owner, which was why I paid FOR NCRS to look it up. Obviously I'm disappointed and don't know where else to turn to obtain the info I need.
I got the same result when I tried to get the report for out '64. I was told that the microfiche that contained the information for our car was damaged, and the information was not legible.
I am in the same boat as you - we had the names of all owners except the original owner. I talked with every owner but no one had information on the original owner. We hoped the shipping report would validate the story that the car was sold new in Birmingham, Alabama and possibly provide a lead to start looking for the original owner.
Good luck in your search. You may want to try Auto Ancestry to see if they can help you:

Did they give you a refund? A 62 I have had no record-- it seems to me they refunded the money I paid them for the search.
They should refund your monies. Heck if not that is all they would have to do with everyone sending in money to them is say no can find and they keep the bucks. That is not right.

It happens. I got the info on my '63, and there was no info available on my '69, and I got a full refund.
Before you cast stones, sometimes it helpz to actually READ what you are paying for. From the NCRS website:
Shipping Data Report Service
The information consists of the dealer code, dealer zone number, dealer name and dealer address (if available) and the date the car was produced. No other information or any types of documents are available.
The good news is this should allow you to find the original dealer where your Corvette was sold and possibly open the door to finding more information about your Corvette. This service is included for no fee with the Award Confirmation Document. A letter containing the information you requested will be mailed to your NCRS address on record. The cost for this service will be $40.00 USD. Pay by Credit Card or PayPal.
Refunds will be processed if none of the above information is available or provided.

Just keep in mind the NCRS is a not for profit organization. Sounds like they profited and you got nothing. You just paid the NCRS tax.
Since NCRS recently received a $750,000.00 bequest I am sure thier finances are in great shape.
Don't ask them for a detailed financial statement, you won't get one....
Dealer that sold my "66" coupe still in business .I sent letter and photo of car and received phone call from From owner's assistant and Owner.Still in business. Received license frames. One on Vette and other on wall of garage.
You don't need to ask for it. They cheerfully refund if no data at all.
If he did not get a refund, then he got some data.
Just not the data he hoped for.

The purpose of the report was to obtain the dealership information and I then intended on contacting them in hopes they could provide me with the original owners information. All I received was a reply stating there was no information available.

I would want a refund for the non existing info and the magazine fee. After all, that is the only reason I join NRCS was to get the shipping info, which I did.
You paid the NCRS to lookup the original owner? I'm not sure they provide that service. They just tell you, if info available, who the vette was shipped to when new. Now if you are hoping to call the original selling dealer and find out who they sold the vette to initially, I think you're gonna be disappointed. The chances the dealer is still in business is slim to none and then if they even are, the chances they have info on who they sold a vette to over 50 years ago?
