Trying to adjust my side windows to fit hardtop. Windows wont go forward enough to fit at the rear. Used new vertical channels that were with the car when I bought it. Upon close inspection the felt in the channel has a slot wide enough for glass but not wide enough to allow the frame to enter. Is the front vertical frame suppose to seat fully in the channel, ie no chrome showing when closed.
Concerned that my question is not clear since no response. I think I have the wrong door post channel. A picture or window up with hardtop on would answer my question.
The forward portion of the window frame should be able to fit all the way forward in the front channels and also have enough room to freely move up and down. IIRC, there were some issues years ago with improper (too thick) felt which caused a problem. As you are using new older ones, that may be the problem. Make a wood block the same width as the window frame and try working it up and down in the front channel to see if you can expand it enough to get a good fit and operation.
