Default Date codes

Trying to figure out how original my 66 Vette is. I have some pictures of the transmission, rear end, bell housing and the build tag. I would appreciate any help figuring this out. Thanks Bob

where you getting a engine build date?????

Trim tag decides too:
C20= Nov 20th
66 467= 66 convertible
Trim Std= black vinyl interior

? 1377 = the ? should be a "A" for A. O. Smith or "S" St. Louis and the 1,377 convertible body built at either plant
974= Rally Red exterior upper and lower

rear end not sure on that casting date. but what you do want to find is the build suffix code and date which is stamp on the bottom machined surface between the strut rod bracket and spring plate.

621 bellhousing was used on 67-? 11" flywheels used on most BB chevy cars

the trans casting number is typical for 65-6? Munices all applications

Would that be Nov 65? Car is a 427. I am heading back down to look for the rear end numbers. Thank you!

The op never said in is original post he was showing a picture of his engine stamp or casting date. In the order of his pictures and his questions he's showing a casting number or date of the rear end housing. Further more the op said his car is a 427. And merry Christmas

Use a chemical stripper to remove the paint and take some more pictures. Do not use any mechanical means to remove the paint.

Something's not adding up the casting date is Augest 10 1967. But the 942 block stopped being cast sometime around June/July 66.

Yes sir. I have been doing some research and I can not find this block being used anywhere in 1967.
